Flap Discs- The “versatile weapon” in the grinding field can easily handle various working conditions.
According to the abrasive type, flap discs can be classified into three categories: ceramic alumina, zirconia alumina, and alumina.
- Ceramic alumina contains numerous crystals. It has excellent self-sharpening properties, relatively neat edges, good heat dissipation, and a long service life. Consequently, ceramic alumina flap discs are primarily employed for grinding stainless steel, aluminum, and other hard metals.
- Zirconia alumina is itself a polycrystalline crystal. It has a fast cutting speed, self-sharpening ability, and strong resistance to high pressure and high temperature. Therefore, zirconia alumina flap discs possess strong cutting ability and a long service life.
- Alumina consists of monocrystalline crystals. Its cutting ability starts to decline at the beginning of grinding, and the abrasive particles are not easily broken. Thus, alumina flap discs are suitable for processing common metals.
